I'm back!

Hello and thank you for popping in. I do appreciate you calling in and if you have the time to leave a comment, especially at this busy time of year, I love to see them. I enjoy seeing all of the feedback, the good and not so good because I am a definite amateur and I am looking to always improve. Actually, seeing my own photos at times, I can see the mistakes and see how to make things look better.
So, nails done, ready for Christmas. I've gone for black with a little hint of glitter! Very much out of my comfort zone. We did a little bit of shopping, we have a wedding on the 27th and my daughter is struggling to find something that she likes and will accommodate her growing bump. She's already had to return a dress that 2 weeks ago fitted and now won't go anywhere near her. It's a good job she brought it over to try on and show me last week. We're just grateful that she didn't put it to one side and waited until the actual day! The one maternity dress she ordered was far too big around the boob area and has been returned too. Today, she bought a lovely dress and picked up a couple that she'd ordered. Hopefully, one out of the three will be OK.
Husband is out tonight for his company's Christmas do, so I'm home alone - "Strictly" here I come! I would love to see Jay win but I have a sneaking suspicion that Anton du Bec and his partner will win because it is a popularity contest to a point and I think Anton is leaving. His fans will want him to go out on a high. I will write my Christmas cards too and see how many more I need to make!!
With that I am going to make this post my last one for the year. I will be back in 2016.I hope to see you then

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

A simple/easy box

Hello Everyone. Thank you for lovely comments on my oldie I am so sorry I did not post anything on Tuesday, I came home from work feeling shattered, I fell asleep on the sofa! It was then time to get the evening meal ready. Too late to post after clearing away etc.
Anyway,I fell over on Monday. I slipped on some wet leaves and ended up on my backside. I stupidly, or subconsciously, put out my hand that wasn't holding a cup of coffee, and managed to cut the heel of my hand. The coffee stayed in my hand (hooray!) but spilled a little. In my embarrassment and once I was standing again, I threw the cup of coffee in temper, for it to then splash all over my lovely Alexander McQueen shopping bag. I was not a happy bunny by the time I got to the office. So, Tuesday was not a good day for me as I ached from the tumble. Next time I think I will add more alcohol to the coffee!
Today's offering is the small box I made for the gift my daughter had bought. The photo is not brilliant. I tried hard not to get me or the camera reflected off the lid. Using my Hougie board I cut a piece of gold mirri 14x14cm and scored each edge at 2cm. I cut a piece of white card 16x16cm and on two adjacent edges trimmed a slither of card off. I scored at 3cm on each edge. I decorated the top with a very simple die cut in gold mirri which was a freebie from a magazine. I decided to offset it for ease. I decided I couldn't work out where the centre of the lid was. I think you all, already know how to make simple boxes - I'm a bit of a newbie to box making, so this will be a bit of a reference point for me. I was thrilled with the result and need to make a couple more now (I've at long last managed to get husband a small gift and need to disguise it).
Had Salsa Monday night and last night. I have a another Salsa night tomorrow (Friday). Craft club tonight. Nails done on Saturday. So busy, busy busy! Have fun whatever you are up to

Oldie for FFriday

Hello Everyone
I am still chasing my tail and still making Christmas cards! I have just finished making a box for my daughter to use to hold a necklace she has bought. It is a simple basic 10cm x 10cm one. I will take a photo and post it at some point. The light is so dismal here that I'd struggle to take a half decent one. The shop we were in yesterday had very simple little boxes and wanted to charge £2.50! I said straight away that I'd make one instead. My cost, about 50p if that!
I had a great holiday apart from the lack of organisation. Our organiser kept telling us "but that's Cuba for you" BUT that wasn't always the case, I know because we've been there a few times now. There was 50 of us in our group and somebody coined the phrase "we're rushing to wait" We did have a laugh about it all. Little snippets of the highlights will appear on here.
My oldie for today inspired by Erika at Snappy Crafts. It is a Christmas card I made last year. The image is from My Craft Studio. This cd-rom had a coloured image and a black and white image. So I printed the coloured onto white card and the black and white image onto heat resistant acetate. Sent that one through my Patsy May Foil It machine with gold foil and just layered it over the top of the coloured one. I really must use that machine more often.
I have really exciting news to tell you all and I have been bursting to mention it. But my daughter was/is being very cautious for very personal reasons
SHE IS APPROXIMATELY 22 WEEKS PREGNANT! To say I'm excited is an understatement. This is will be our first grandchild and I cannot wait
Have a great week end everyone. I have nagged husband to take me Christmas shopping tomorrow.

Chocolate!

Hello Everyone. Thank you for popping in, I value you taking the time, and if you are able to leave a comment, I love to see/hear what you think of my humble offerings.
Today's post is a chocolate wrapper that I entered into a competition organised by Christine Emberson and her blog is Creativity Continues I think most of you know her. I especially like her Friday Die days and her charity kits. The brief was to use a Spellbinders die. I went the whole hog and all of the dies, apart from one, are Spellbinders. I wanted to keep the colouring to a certain chocolate corporate purple too.
Her son Elliott has a blog too Hope and Chances
I was one of the five winners (my first in crafting ever!) and won the novel "The Chocolate Lover's Christmas" by Carole Matthews ( a brilliant read), a box of chocolates and a tiara.
The next stage of the competition was to send in a photograph wearing the tiara and displaying the book. Sadly I missed the deadline as I was on holiday but I had great fun deciding where to have my photo taken. I got a few strange looks posing in front of the Chocolate Museum in Havanna, Cuba!  I think the look on my face says "hurry up, people are staring at me".

Hello Everyone.
Well it doesn't take long to get back into the swing of things after a holiday does it?. I did have a great time apart from a slight run in with a patio door that had an edge that felt like a knife! I really thought I would be coming home with only nine toes. Fortunately, there was a GP in our group and she was able to help. I have been to Cuba quite a few times now. I love it there. We spent a few days in Havanna and a ew days in Varadero.. The whole place feels like it is still stuck in the 1950's but this will change eventually now that the embargo has lifted. I don't drink alcohol BUT there is a place in Havanna that sells the most delicious drink in the world! Freshly pressed sugar cane syrup and Havanna Club! Yum!
Today's card was made for a friend to give to a fellow crafter. The giver makes superb quilts, black work, sewing, quilling etc and the recipient does all of the above but also makes exquisite miniatures using the boxes from hotels that display teabags, fimo, couscous. See her work I posted here. I hope she liked it

We're all crafting!

Hello All
I'm back! I can admit now that I have been away on holiday in Cuba. We all know that it can be a bit dodgy admitting on line this fact. So I have tried to schedule a few posts and thank you for bearing with me. Now it will be rush, rush, rush to try and get the Christmas shopping and at least the cards done
As always, today's post is an oldie inspired by Erika I apologise for the quality of the photograph but it is old, really old! It was so easy to do and made quite a few of them in either black, white and gold or black, white and silver.
I have a busy week end ahead! I want to try and make a little cardi for my daughter's friend's new baby, together with a card.Make a real dent in making some more Christmas cards, catch up on the holiday washing AND go to Winter Wonderland in London tomorrow. So, I must get cracking!
More about the holiday in later posts
Ingredients
6x6 or was it 5x5 black card blank
